Suosituksen perustelu

The so-called “call-outs" which are intended for a multi-crew flight deck are also used in elementary flight training. These call-outs are meant to increase mutual awareness between pilots as regards the completion of allotted tasks in the cockpit. It is likely that flight academies, aiming at establishing an airline pilot-type image in their flight instruction, have prepared these call-outs for stall training flights, among other things. Nonetheless, especially at early stages in training, it would be sensible to concentrate on stall recovery alone. In business aviation call-outs correspond to the procedure to be completed at any given instance, or a changed indication on the flight display.

Recommendation

Safety Investigation Authority Finland recommends that the Finnish Transport Safety Agency establish the suitability of using call-outs in elementary flight training, at least when it comes to stall recovery or more demanding manoeuvres
