Ensuring that nursing homes and other nursing institutions have a maintenance programme

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health should ensure that nursing homes and other institutions run by hospital districts, municipalities and the private sector have a proactive maintenance and repair programme that takes account of the sub-areas of structural safety, and which is regularly implemented and monitored. When compiling the programme, it should, for instance, be ensured that there are proper fire seals, electric and gas systems and automatic air pressurisation in emergency exits and lift shafts.
