R2024-02 Collision on tram line 15 in Espoo on 15 November 2024 and other accidents and incidents on the same tram line in 2023-2025

The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland will initiate an investigation under section 2, subsection 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into the collision of a tram on the tram line 15 into a buffer stop in Espoo on 15 November 2024. The investigation will also cover other tramway accidents and incidents on the tram line 15 in 2023–2024.

Alpo Vuorio, expert at the Safety Investigation Authority, has been appointed as the Head of the Investigation Team, and Olli Himanen, Timo Koli, Kim Louhula and Senior Safety Investigator Mikko Tikkanen as members of the team. Janne Alanen, expert at the Safety Investigation Authority, will be appointed as specialist in the area of emergency medical service. Lasse Laatta, Chief Rail Safety Investigator, will serve as the Investigator-in-Charge.
