L2024-02 Aviation accident at Räyskälä aerodrome on 16 Oct 2024

‍The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland opens an investigation under Section 2.2 of the Safety Investigation Act of Finland (525/2011) into an aviation accident that occurred at Räyskälä aerodrome on 16 October 2024. Shortly after take-off, the engine of a SNJ-3 (OH-NAT) aircraft shut down and the aircraft crashed. The two persons on board suffered fatal injuries and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair. The investigation will focus in particular on the operation of the engine system and the training and experience of the pilot.

Expert Kimmo Lius has been appointed head of the investigation team with expert Jukka Jylö, special investigator Juho Posio and expert Jouni Rautio as members. Janne Kotiranta, Chief Air Safety Investigator, will be the Investigator In Charge.
