Accident leading to the death of a seaman in the port of Hamina on 13 February 2023

A member of the crew of MS Oslo Wave 3, sailing under the flag of Norway, died by falling down from the vessel to the pier in the Port of Hamina on 13 February 2023. The Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority (NSIA) has asked the Safety Investigation Authority, Finland (SIAF), to appoint an accredited representative to the investigation.

The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland has appointed Senior Safety Investigator Ilkka Kervinen as the accredited representative for the safety investigation initiated by NSIA.

Safety Investigation Authority, Finland has initiated a themed investigation on fatal accidents at work. The analysis period is the calendar year 2023. The above-mentioned accident is included in the themed investigation.
