Incident

Budapest Aircraft Services flight BPS692 had departed on a scheduled service from Pori airport to Helsinki-Vantaa airport at 0726 h on Friday, October 15, 2021. At around 0750 h, the captain noted that right engine torque and fuel flow had dropped below their normal values, and the engine did not respond to power lever movements. The pilots notified air traffic control of an emergency by transmitting mayday and shut down the affected engine as a precaution. They completed the flight on a single engine and landed uneventfully at Helsinki at 0815 h.

An examination by a company mechanic revealed that the power loss had resulted from the failure of the P3 line in the right engine. Due to the failure, the hydromechanical metering unit (HMU) had scheduled the fuel flow to the right engine to the minimum limit.

The occurrence did not result in injuries. Damage was limited to the malfunction of the right engine.
