C16/​1997R Shunt­ing fore­man in­jured at Kemi, on April 28, 1997

On Monday, April 28, 1997, a shunting foreman was injured when jumping from a derailing wagon on Ajos harbour track in Kemi. The shunting foreman and a member of the train crew jumped off the wagon, the latter succeeding the jump whereas the former hit his leg on the track and broke his shinbone. The costs generated by the accident totalled below FIM 200,000.

The derailing was a result of a swelled rail in the point, due to frost heave.
