Ms TUULISPÄÄ, owned by City Cruisers Limited Liability Company, grounded on August 12, 2000 at 16.50 near Eastern Villinki Island off Helsinki. TUULISPÄÄ was carrying 45 passengers and the captain.
The captain and 34 of the passengers were evacuated to ms LOTTA; owned by the same shipowner; eight passengers were evacuated to the rescue vessel ANTTI HUIMA; and three pas-sengers were evacuated to the rescue vessel NIHTI.
In the course of the accident, one passenger suffered minor injuries. TUULISPÄÄ did not suffer any leaks. The vessel was floated with the help of a coast guard vessel, and the owner of the shipyard, who arrived on board the LOTTA, sailed TUULISPÄÄ with her own motors back to shore. TUULISPÄÄ’s keel was damaged, and the vessel had to be taken out of traffic for eight days.
