Finland to take chairmanship of International Transportation Safety Association (ITSA)
Safety Investigation Authority, Finland (SIAF) took the chairmanship of ITSA on 18 May 2021 in a two-day virtual meeting when Chief Commissioner Greg Hood from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) passed the chairmanship to Executive Director, professor Veli-Pekka Nurmi.
ITSA is an international network of heads of independent safety investigation authorities. The association has a rotating chairmanship. ITSA was established in October 1993 and is composed of independent safety investigation authorities from 18 countries. ITSA’s aim is to contribute significantly to the safety of the traveling public. The association is built on the notion that an international network, which brings together the safety investigation agencies from many nations, would be a mutually beneficial forum to share safety information and further develop practices and future was of cooperation.
The next physical meeting will be held in Finland in May/June 2022 situation permitting.
