The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland decides to initiate a safety investigation according to the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into an ultralight aircraft accident which occurred in Laajasalo, Helsinki on 30.5.2017. The pilot and the passenger suffered serious injuries during the forced landing. The aircraft, Ikarus C42 OH-U398, was destroyed.
Safety Investigator Heikki Harri is appointed as a team leader of investigation group. Members of the investigation group are aircraft mechanic Mikko Raatikainen and ATC controller (ret) Timo Heikkilä. Chief Air Safety Investigator Mr. Ismo Aalto-nen is appointed as the investigator in charge
