L2023-02 Aviation accident at the Selänpää airfield on 16 July 2023

The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland will initiate an investigation under the first subsection of section 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into the aviation accident that occurred at the Selänpää airfield on 16 July 2023. An Extra 300s aircraft crashed during an aerobatic show. One person died in the accident. The aircraft was destroyed beyond repair.

Airline transport pilot Mika Kosonen is appointed as the Head of the Investigation Team, with airline transport pilot and flight instructor Kimmo Lius, aircraft mechanic Mikko Raatikainen, airline transport pilot (retired) Kristian Rintala as well as flight instructor and safety manager Jukka Intke as its members. Chief Air Safety Investigator Janne Kotiranta will serve as the Investigator-in-Charge.
