L2024-03 Passenger falling accident at Helsinki-Vantaa airport

Pursuant to section 2 subsection 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011), the Safety Investigation Authority, Finland initiates an investigation into an accident that occurred on November 12, 2024, when a disembarking passenger fell to the apron from the door of an ATR 72-500 airplane after landing. The primary focus of the investigation will be on the design and operation of the passenger door handrail.

The appointed investigation team leader is expert Olli Borg. The team members are expert Britt-Eklund-Itäinen and expert Raine Lehtonen. The investigator-in-charge is Chief Air Safety Investigator Janne Kotiranta.
