M2020-A1 Preliminary assessment regarding new information on M/S Estonia

Based on the reference document, the Safety Investigation Authority, Finland, has decided to appoint Chief Safety Investigator Risto Haimila as the authorised representative in accordance with section 12(2) of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) and Safety Investigator Hannu Hänninen as his assistant to aid the Estonian Safety Investigation Bureau with the preliminary assessment of the new information on the sinking of MS Estonia published on 28 September 2020.

MS Estonia sank on 28 September 1994, of which the Joint Accident Investigation Commission appointed by the governments of Estonia, Sweden and Finland drew up an investigation report. The investigation report was published in December 1997.
