The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland launches a safety investigation into a marine casualty in which the Jääsalo tug released approximately 10 m³ of light fuel oil into the Kemi Ajos harbour basin.

The focus of the investigation is on the chain of oil spills, response measures and cooperation practices between the authorities, as well as the activities of the regulatory and supervisory authorities.

Expert Leif Johansson will be appointed as the head of the investigation team, and specialists Julia Westerberg, Niklas Rönnberg and Aino Tammeleht will be appointed as members. The investigator in charge is Ilkka Kervinen, Acting Chief Investigator.
