Recommendation
Building regulations are specified in such a way that: A personal safety (evacuation and rescue safety) analysis will be drawn on premises, where the persons’ possibilities to make an exit are restricted due to their reduced ability to function. In this analysis the possibilities of the residents/patients to save themselves in case of a fire will be studied, as well as the possibilities of other helpers, e.g. the staff and the fire brigade, to save them quickly enough from a room or ward which has caught fire. In an apartment fire the person to be rescued must get into safety 2 - 3 minutes after the ignition, and the ward must be evacuated max. 15 minutes after the fire has begun. The safety arrangements of the premises, e.g. the protection level, are defined on the basis of a safety analysis according to picture 2.
