Accident involving an experimental aircraft in Hyvinkää on 27 September 2021: no technical faults in the aircraft
The investigation by the Safety Investigation Authority, Finland, into the aviation accident that occurred on the Hyvinkää airfield on 27 September 2021, in which an experimental aircraft crashed during a spot landing during a refresher training flight, has progressed. One person died in the accident and another was seriously injured.
In light of the investigation carried out so far, a technical malfunction in the aircraft can be excluded as a cause of the accident. In the investigation, it has also been discovered that the pilot of the aircraft had a fit of illness during the flight.
The Safety Investigation Authority has conducted hearings and collected documents. Next, the investigation will continue with an analysis. It is estimated that the investigation will be completed in the late spring of 2022, at which time the Safety Investigation Authority will publish an investigation report.
