Accident involving an experimental aircraft in Hyvinkää on 27 September 2021: no technical faults in the aircraft

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the Safety In­ves­ti­ga­tion Au­thor­ity, Fin­land, into the avi­a­tion ac­ci­dent that oc­curred on the Hyvinkää air­field on 27 Sep­tem­ber 2021, in which an ex­per­i­men­tal air­craft crashed dur­ing a spot land­ing dur­ing a re­fresher train­ing flight, has pro­gressed. One per­son died in the ac­ci­dent and an­other was se­ri­ously in­jured.

In light of the investigation carried out so far, a technical malfunction in the aircraft can be excluded as a cause of the accident. In the investigation, it has also been discovered that the pilot of the aircraft had a fit of illness during the flight.

The Safety Investigation Authority has conducted hearings and collected documents. Next, the investigation will continue with an analysis. It is estimated that the investigation will be completed in the late spring of 2022, at which time the Safety Investigation Authority will publish an investigation report.
